Village of Waterford

The Village of Waterford, located along the Fox River in western Racine County in southeast Wisconsin, historically served as the hub of commerce for the surrounding community. The Village, which supports a mix of industrial, manufacturing, retail and service industries, continues to benefit from its central location. Incorporated in 1906, the Village covers over 2 square miles and has a population of over 5,400 people. It is a community rich in small-town charm with large city opportunities. Located just 30 minutes from Racine, Kenosha and Milwaukee and one hour from Chicago and Madison, Waterford enjoys the best that both small town and big city has to offer.

    Flitz International contacted RCEDC to secure a low-interest, low-downpayment equipment loan. In addition to the $200,000 loan, the company also applied and received a Racine County matching grant.

    ProHealth Care plans to expand its services in the Waterford community by building a clinic at the west corner of Highway 36 and Highway 164.

    Construction is underway on the mixed-use Waterford Lofts, a 28,200 sq. ft. project at 506 E Main Street. The project is a partnership between the Village of Waterford, Wisconsin Redevelopment Group, and Milwaukee-based Selzer-Ornst Construction Company.

    The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) recently awarded the Village of Waterford $250,000 as part of the Community Development Investment (CDI) Grant program. The grant will go towards construction of what will become the Waterford Lofts, located at 506 E Main Street.

    With infrastructure improvements completed and development plans in place, the Village of Waterford and a few of its local businesses are utilizing RCEDC resources to spur recent development activity.

    Racine County tourism created videos to recognize and promote the unique elements of Racine County's communities.

    The Waterford Village Board approved a contract for $3.2 million from Reeseman’s Excavating & Grading LLC of Burlington for grading and infrastructure improvements of the Mercury Business Park.

    This program allows for structures that have owner occupied businesses within the boundaries of the TID district to apply for up to $75,000 in forgivable loans for building improvements such as façade upgrades, signage, landscaping and even interior
    improvements.

    On January 22nd the Village of Waterford will hold 3 groundbreakings for new developments all on the East side of the Village. Residents will be happy to know that the Dairy Queen Grill and Chill is among them. A new business park and condos will round out the groundbreaking adding new business tenants and residents alike. These projects will add an approximate value of $4.2 Millon to the Village.

    RCEDC’s mission is to grow Racine County’s property tax base and by supporting business expansions, provide employment opportunities to Racine County residents. In 2023, RCEDC staff were able to facilitate 64 projects that included comprehensive site selection, loans, grants, and incentives resulting in $1.36 billion in private investment and $1.05 billion in new construction.
